Traffic police are experiencing a demanding night on the region's motorways, with three affected by incidents.
The M57 is blocked between junctions 1 and 2 near Knowsley due to an accident. It is now known how long the road will be closed.
In addition, the M66 northbound is closed at junction 3 because of a vehicle fire. Again, the duration of the closure is not yet known.
And police are also searching for a pedestrian who was spotted on the M60 near to junction 4.
