Police have been given further powers in multiple areas of Merseyside over Halloween.
In six areas in the borough of Sefton, police officers will have increased powers after new measures were introduced to combat anti-social behaviour over the Halloween period. From 3pm today (Saturday, October 29), officers and community support officers will be able to order people to leave the any of the five areas and not return for up to 48 hours.
They will also be able to order people to surrender items that can be used to cause anti-social behaviour, send people under 16 home or to a place of safety, and arrest anyone who ignores the instruction. The increased powers will end at 1am on Tuesday, November 1, however, they could be increased if necessary.
