Police crackdown after racial abuse, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour in Sacriston

Police are reviewing CCTV after reports of criminal damage, racial abuse and anti-social behaviour in a County Durham town.

Officers have received increased reports of crimes in the Sacriston area involving groups of youths.

In order to catch the culprits, police are looking at CCTV and are increasing their presence in the area.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “We have recently been made aware of a number of incidents in the Sacriston area involving groups of youths.

“Reports of criminal damage, racial abuse and general Anti-Social Behaviour are amongst the issues reported to police.

“We are currently conducting a number of inquiries, including CCTV in order to deal with those involved.

“There will be an increase in police presence over the coming weeks. Neighbourhood Wardens from Durham County Council will also be paying additional attention to the village.”
