Police crack down on Leeds anti-social behaviour over bank holiday with dispersal order

A 48-hour dispersal order has been issued by the British Transport Police in areas of Leeds in efforts to crack down on anti-social behaviour over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

The order runs from 9pm on Friday evening, until 9am on Sunday.

If a person has been directed by officers to leave the area and returns during the period of the dispersal notice, an offence will have been committed.

Any breaches of this can lead to their arrest.

A spokesperson from the British Transport Police told LeedsLive that there are two separate authorisations in place.

The first will cover the footprint of Leeds railway station, while the second will cover the footprint of the stations on the Wharfedale Line including Ilkley, Ben-Rhydding and Burley-in-Wharfedale.

"This is following a rise in anti-social behaviour at these locations in recent weeks following the relaxing of lockdown restrictions," the statement read.

"Both authorities will come into force from 9am on Friday morning and will be reviewed on Sunday."
