Police cordoned off parkland near Peterlee nightclub following concerns for a woman

Officers cordoned off a parkland area near a nightclub in County Durham following concerns for the welfare of a woman.

Durham Constabulary officers were called to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman near Vibe nightclub, Peterlee, at around 4.40am on Monday, August 30.

The force said inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman near Vibe nightclub, Peterlee, at around 4.40am on Monday, August 30.

"Inquiries are ongoing."

Pictures from the scene taken on Monday morning show a single police car parked outside the cordoned off area, near the junction of Bede Way and Burnhope Way.

Officers were seen guarding the cordon as police continued their investigations.
