Hamilton's busy Cadzow Street and Cadzow Glen park remain closed today (Monday) amidst an ongoing major police investigation.
Locals reported seeing children building snowmen and having snowball fights in the Hamilton park shortly before a heavy police presence swooped on the area on Sunday morning.
Officers have cordoned off Cadzow Street from the junction at Leechlee Road up to Hamilton Town House at Auchingramont Road, whilst police also remain on the scene at two entrances to the Glen at Back Row.
Police are also permitting people from entering the area at Common Green whilst they continue to investigate.
Businesses in the area are, however, allowed to open today.
One local told Lanarkshire Live : "It was all very quiet early on Sunday morning apart from few families and children enjoying the snowfall and building snowmen and having snowball fights in the Glen.
"Then all of a sudden there was police everywhere and it was all cordoned off.
"I went out to ask, but they couldn't tell me anything. They have been here ever since guarding the place all night.
"They don't seem to look like they are packing up either, it must be serious."
It is still unknown the exact circumstances surrounding the huge police presence or if it is linked to missing teen, Amber Niven, who was last seen in the area at around 9.55pm on Friday night.
The 16-year-old failed to return home or contact worried loved ones before being reported missing to police.
She was last seen wearing a black jacket with a fur hood, light grey jogging bottoms and white trainers.
Amber is described as being around 5ft 5in tall, of a medium build and has long, strawberry blonde hair.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers are currently in attendance in Cadzow Glen, Hamilton, in connection with an ongoing police investigation."
