Police cordon off Welsh beach after bones found

A police cordon has been set up around a popular Welsh beauty spot following the discovery of bones.

Walkers came across the bones on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast near Nash Point on Wednesday afternoon and called South Wales Police. The section of coast path, near Monknash, has now been cordoned off to allow police to investigate.

Little is know what kind of bones they are but police confirmed they would be dug up and sent off for analysis.

Officers advised the public that the excavation could take a few days to complete and the area would remain closed off for the duration.

In 2019, the skeletons of at least six people were found in the cliffs at Cwm Nash during an eight-day excavation by archaeologists. They were thought to be the victims of a shipwreck from the late sixteenth or early seventeenth century. Read more about that here.
