Police cordon off area outside The Union Bar as man rushed to hospital with head injury

Police last night cordoned off an area outside The Union Bar on Paisley Road as a man was rushed to hospital with a head injury.

Officers were called to the scene, close to the junction with Govan Road, after a report of a man being seriously assaulted.

The 50-year-old is now being treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "Around 11.45pm on Saturday October 26, police were called to a report of a man having been seriously assaulted on Paisley Road, near to Govan Road, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and a 50-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Unviersity Hospital to be treated for a head injury.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information should contact police via 101 quoting incident number 4587 of Saturday October 26, 2019."

An eyewitness has since contacted Glasgow Live to say the incident took place outside The Union Bar and not inside the actual pub itself.
