Police cordon off stretch of Argyle Street as man dies after taking unwell

A man has died after taking ill on a city centre street this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Argyle Street, near Pizza Hut, around 12.45pm on Tuesday.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene a short time later.

Police officers cordoned off a section of the street, near Poundland and Sainsbury's to carry out enquiries.

It's believed the man's death is medical related.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a man having taken unwell on Argyle Street in Glasgow around 12.45pm on Tuesday, 20 October.

"The Scottish Ambulance Service attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
