Police cordon off street near Renfrew Ferry after attack

An area close to the Renfrew Ferry has been cordoned off by police following a disturbance.

Police and ambulance descended on the scene on Ferry Road around 6.15pm following reports of an attack.

Five police cars, two ambulances and a fire engine attended the scene following the attack.

The street has since been cordoned off and officers remain in attendance.

Those injured have now been taken to hospital for treatment.

The Renfrew Ferry posted on social media to assure customers that they are still able to access the ferry.

They said: "There's a major incident with lots of police etc in attendance at the Renfrew side. Not sure what it is but place taped off by police, however you can still access the ferry by sticking to the pavement on the right hand side approaching the slipway."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that officers were called to the scene following reports of a disturbance.

They added: "The injured parties have been taken to hospital and officers remain on the scene."

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Clyde Street, Renfrew, but it was found to be a false alarm.
