Police cordon off part of North East park in crime scene investigation

A large section of a popular North East park has been cordoned off by police as crime scene investigation teams respond to an incident.

One police officer is patrolling the cordon in Stanhope Park, Darlington, on Saturday afternoon, Teesside Live reports. The taped-off area is situated in the middle of the park, surrounding a section of bushes, however, the park remains open to members of the public at this time.

A crime scene investigation van is also parked up nearby and another police vehicle has recently left the scene. Details of the incident are not yet known, but the triangular cordon is believed to have been in place throughout the morning. It is not known how long the police cordon will remain in place.
