Police cordon off blood-splattered road in Chapeltown after man slashed in the face

Police have cordoned off part of a road in Leeds after a man was slashed in the face.

A 45-year-old man presented himself at St James's University Hospital at 3.45am this morning (Sunday) with slash wounds to the face.

Police officers, who were already at the hospital, spoke to the man and sent units to the scene of where the incident had occured.

West Yorkshire Police have cordoned off part of Back Newton Grove and Chapeltown Road in Chapeltown to investigate the incident.

There are splatters of blood along both streets.

A local resident, who did not want to be named, said: "A man who lives on the corner was having a party outside last night.

"He was playing loud music as usual but this time there were loads of people and they were having a barbeque."

Locked up in Leeds in April

The road was still taped off this afternoon as forensic officers carried out investigations on the road and in the property.

The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and he has since been transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
