Police cordon off Beeston street with two arrested after vicious attack

Two men have been arrested following an assault in Leeds on Monday evening.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police cordoned off an area of Ingleton Street in Beeston, Leeds, after a 20-year-old man was attacked by a 19-year-old.

The latter was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, while the 20-year-old was treated for his injuries at hospital before also being arrested himself on suspicion of affray.

Both men currently remain in custody.

A scene had remained in place until around 11pm last night. Police officers continue with their investigations today.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 5.57pm yesterday (25/1) police were called to an incident in Ingleton Street, Beeston, where a 20-year-old man had been assaulted.

"A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

"The victim was treated at hospital and arrested on suspicion of affray in relation to the incident. Both men remain in custody.

"A scene was put in in place to undergo examination and was lifted at about 11pm.

"Detectives from Leeds District CID are continuing to investigate the incident today."
