Police cordon in place in Stokes Croft after hit-and-run near Lakota nightclub

A man has been hospitalised after a hit-and-run in Stokes Croft in the early hours of this morning (June 2).

Moon Street, which runs down the side of popular nightclub Lakota, has been cordoned off by Avon and Somerset Constabulary following the incident.

Police were called to nearby Backfields to reports of a collision shortly after 3.30am.

A man, believed to be in his late teens or early twenties, suffered serious injuries although they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and police remain at the scene.

A spokesman for the force confirmed the cordon will remain in place while officers carry out investigations.  

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "The patient was taken to the BRI with relatively serious injuries.

"They are not life-threatening, but are serious."
