Police cordon goes up outside Highbury Vale shop after reports of a burglary

A police cordon has gone up in Highbury Road, Highbury Vale, after reports of a shop burglary.

Officers were called to reports of the incident at McColls just after midnight on Thursday, September 26.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called just after 12am today (Thursday, September 26) to reports of a burglary at McColls in Highbury Road.

"If you saw what happened, call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 4 of 26 September 2019."

Passers-by at the store spoke of their shock at the scene.

Kevin Martin, 55, of Highbury Vale said: "It's a shame for the shop. I go in quite often and it's got a good selection of stuff. I hope they weren't too badly affected by it."

Sarah Parkes, 44, of Highbury Vale, added: "I went to go in the store but they told me they were shut. It's sad to hear about a burglary. It must have been scary."
