Police continue to try and trace car in the River Leven

Police are continuing enquiries after a car was seen floating down the River Leven last week.

Bizarre footage of the incident was shared hundreds of times on Facebook as shocked passers-by watch on.

The tail of the white vehicle could be spotted rapidly travelling between Bonhill and Dumbarton.

But police failed to trace the car and are continuing their enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Lennox Herald: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances around a car that was seen in the River Leven at Bonhill at around 1pm on Thursday, February 13.

“Anyone with information is asked to phone Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1485 or February 13.”

A witness who was in the area at the time told us: “There were police and fire engines all over the place and the helicopter was out too.

“We just couldn’t believe it when we heard what had happened.

“It is difficult to understand where the car entered the water.”
