Police continue enquiries after man found in Airdrie woodland

Police are continuing their enquiries into how a man came to be lying in an area of woodland in Airdrie.

Officers initially believed the 53-year-old had been "seriously injured" when he was discovered at around 8.40am yesterday, close to Stanrigg Memorial Park, on Meikle Drumgray Road, Greengairs.

However, officers now believe the man was severely unwell, with a low body temperature, rather than injured.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Around 8.40 am on Monday, April 12, a 53-year-old man was found lying seriously unwell in wooded area.

“He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, Monklands.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish how he came to be there.”
