VISAKHAPATNAM: The suspicious death of a police constable B Ramesh Kumar (40) at Sivajipalem under MVP Colony police station limits in Vizag city turned out to be a pre-planned murder.
Ramesh Kumar’s wife B Shiva Jyothi has plotted the murder of her husband with the help of her lover. The police arrested Siva Jyothi and her lover Rama Rao and one more person Neela in connection with the murder.
It may be recalled that Ramesh Kumar, a constable attached to One-Town police station in Vizag city was found lifeless under suspicious circumstances in his residence at Sivajipalem under MVP Colony police station on Wednesday morning.
The police said that Ramesh Kumar returned to home on Tuesday evening after the duty hours and he had dinner and went to sleep. Ramesh Kumar was found dead on Wednesday morning on the bed. Ramesh was survived by a wife and two children.
City police chief Dr CM Thrivikram Varam said that their investigation has revealed that Shiva Jyothi got acquainted with neighbour Rama Rao and both allegedly developed intimacy.
Ramesh Kumar noticed that his wife was getting much closer to Rama Rao and warned her. However, she did not mend her attitude and continued intimacy with Rama Rao. Ramesh asked Shiva Jyothi to go away from his life and he will take care of the two children. But Shiva Jyothi and Rama Rao decided to end Ramesh Kumar.
On Tuesday night (August 1), Shiva Jyothi offered liquor to her husband. When he was asleep. Rama Rao and his friend Neela and Shiva Jyothi smothered Rama Rao to death with a pillow and she tried to make it a natural death, the police added.
The investigation also revealed that Shiva Jyothi has given Rs1.5 lakh to her lover by mortgaging her gold jewellery. Rama Rao has given Rs one lakh to Neela for murder of Ramesh Kumar, the police added.
