Police consider murder charge for teen stabber

A Mathayom 6 student who stabbed a fellow student in the neck with a piece of broken glass at their school in Pathum Thani on Friday has confessed to the crime and could be charged with attempted murder, according to provincial police.

The 19-year-old high school senior, accompanied by his relatives, acknowledged a charge of assault at the Muang Pathum Thani police station on Monday.

Police also interviewed the victim of the attack, an 18-year-old male student, after he was discharged from Pathum Thani Hospital,

The assailant allegedly confessed to attacking his fellow student out of anger. He asked for forgiveness from both the victim and his parents before hugging him.

According to investigators, the assailant said he lashed out because the victim and his friends had provoked him. He also admitted he had a problem controlling his anger.

The student, who has been suspended from school after the incident, was brought up by relatives as his parents worked overseas.

According to the relatives, the youth has a serious issue with anger management and had been on medication for many years.

Police were investigating to see whether the assailant had intended to take the victim's life. If so, he will be charged with attempted murder.
