Police confirm 'sudden death' of female in South Belfast

Police have confirmed the sudden death of a female in South Belfast.

A PSNI spokesperson said "police received a report of a sudden death of a female in the Cromwell Road area of Belfast today, Monday 23 September".

They added: "The death is not being treated as suspicious."

Alliance Party MLA Paula Bradshaw told Belfast Live that the news is 'deeply saddening'.

She said: "I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of this young woman in the prime of her life. I would like to express my sincerest condolences to her family and friends in this time of great sorrow.

"There is a deep sense of shock in the area this afternoon - everyone is just so sad that another young life has gone in such tragic circumstances.

"I will be engaging with Ulster University and Queen's to ensure that they make their students are aware of pastoral care and support services; and would urge her friends and fellow students to take up these opportunities of help to get through this dark time."
