Police confirm Isle of Wight body is missing Glasgow woman Rosie Johnson

Police have confirmed that a body discovered on Friday in the search for a missing Glasgow woman is indeed Rosie Johnson.

Rosie Johnson, aged 22, went missing on Sunday June 23, prompting detectives around the  Isle of Wight to launch an investigation .

Police officers and volunteers from Isle of Wight Searcg and Rescue as well as the Coastguard searched the island around Wootton Creek.

However, on Friday it was confirmed that a body had been discovered by Hampshire Constabulary in the search, though the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Speaking at the time, Police confirmed: “We can confirm that officers searching for missing Rosie Johnson on the Isle of Wight have found a body of a woman in Wootton this afternoon.

“Formal identification procedures are ongoing but Rosie's next of kin have been made aware of the discovery.

“At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

With the formal identification process now complete, it has been confirmed that the body does belong to Rosie Johnson and the search has ended.
