Police confirm details of incident which closed M621 in both directions

Police have released a statement on what caused the M621 to be closed for over two hours in both directions earlier today (Tuesday).

The motorway - a short loop of motorway that connects the M1 and M62 - was closed between junctions three in the city centre and junction four in Hunslet since 11.20am. It reopened just before 1.30pm.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police at the time said: "Police are currently in attendance after a call for safety for a woman on a bridge at Admiral Street in Leeds."

An updated statement said: "Police attended a call for safety at a bridge at Admiral Street in Leeds. The incident has now concluded and road closures have been lifted."

Traffic officers worked at the scene to help alleviate the traffic, which built up in both directions and cause further delays and queuing on the inner ring road.
