The deaths of two men found inside a home in Sunderland are not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to a home on Springwell Road just after after 3pm on Thursday following reports of concern for two men.

Officers attended and discovered the bodies of the two 63-year-old men inside the property.

An investigation was launched and the deaths were treated as "unexplained".

On Monday, Northumbria Police confirmed that they are not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Shortly after 3pm on Thursday (February 25) we received a report of concern for two males inside an address on Springwell Road, Sunderland.

“Emergency services attended and sadly found the bodies of two men – both aged 63 – inside the property. Their next of kin have been informed.
