Police confirm death of a man following 'gas explosion' in Bingham

Police have confirmed a man has died, following reports of a 'gas explosion' in Bingham on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to an address in East Grove, Bingham on Friday, April 12.

Residents said they heard a bang at around 5.45am.

NottinghamshireLive reported live updates on the incident as events unfolded.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "Officers confirmed a man has died following reports of an incident in Bingham this morning (Friday 12 April 2019).

"Emergency services were called to an address in East Grove after initial reports of a gas explosion.

"Residents reported hearing a bang at around 5.45am.

"An 88-year-old man received medical treatment at the scene but sadly died.

"A cordon remains on at the scene and we are continuing to work with partners to establish the cause of what happened.

"We are not treating the incident as suspicious."
