Police confirm bones found on side of cliff are human

Bones found on the side of the cliff in Weston-super-Mare are human, police have revealed.

The bones were discovered by a member of the public on a cliff near the Kewstoke Toll House on the Toll Road on May 9.

An investigation was launched by police to assess whether the bones were human in origin.

Tests were carried out on the bones, which have now confirmed they are human in origin.

Further tests are now being carried out to assess whether the bones are male or female and how long they have been there.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm now that they are human in origin.

“However, tests to identify them and establish key features such as the age of person, how long have they been in ground and the gender are ongoing.”
