Body of man recovered from River Clyde, police confirm

Police have confirmed the body of a man was pulled from the River Clyde yesterday.

Divers made the tragic discovery around 7.10pm (Sunday, June 9).

Officers rushed to the scene on the Broomielaw, near to the Riverboat Casino, after initial reports.

The man has not been formally identified by the police, although his family have been informed.

His death is not thought to be suspicious.

As previously reported on Glasgow Live, police launched a search and rescue after they were unable to trace a man spotted in the River Clyde near Jamaica Street on Thursday.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 7.10pm on Sunday, June 9 police attended a report of a body in the River Clyde near to Jamaica Street, Glasgow.

“The body of a man was recovered a short time later and his family have been informed.

“Police are not treating the death as suspicious.”
