Police confirm arrest of man close to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium prior to Crystal Palace clash

Police have issued a statement after a man was arrested close to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium ahead of the Premier League game with Crystal Palace this afternoon (Sunday).

A 23-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while unfit and driving without due care and attention, after a vehicle was driven through a road closure in place prior to the Premier League clash taking place between Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

Islington Police confirmed details of the incident in a post on social networking website Twitter, stating that reports of a vehicle being driven towards pedestrians in the area were false and that the matter was not terrorist-related.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Met Police said: "At approximately 15:15 hours police were called to Queensland Road, N7 where a vehicle had driven through a road closure which in place for todays match at the Emirates Stadium.

"The driver exited the vehicle and went to the Box Office to collect tickets where he was detained by police.

"There are no reports of any causalities and the driver of the vehicle, a 23 year old male, has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit and driving without due care and attention. The matter is not being treated as terrorist-related.”
