Police confirm a person has died at the Forth Rail Bridge

A person has been pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called to an incident between Edinburgh Gateway and Inverkeithing this morning.

British Transport Police officers attended the scene after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Sadly it has been confirmed that a person has died at the Forth Rail Bridge and enquires into the incident are still ongoing.

The railway line between Edinburgh and Fife was closed after emergency services were called out at around 8am this morning to deal with the ongoing situation.

ScotRail announced the emergency this morning saying: “Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Inverkeithing and Edinburgh Gateway

"All services to and from Edinburgh via Inverkeithing will be affected.”

All train journeys between Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth and throughout Fife have been cancelled due to the tragedy.
