Police 'concerned' about missing Ian Wearns from Newbiggin Hall as search is launched to find him

Police officers are "increasingly concerned" for a man who left his Newcastle home almost 24 hours ago.

Ian Wearns, 53, was last heard from around lunchtime on Tuesday at his home on Shirlaw Close, Newbiggin Hall and his family have not seen him since.

Officers are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare, and so police are appealing for help from the public to locate him.

Ian is described as white, 5ft 11ins with short shaven hair; he is also hard of hearing so may be wearing hearing aids.

He was last seen wearing jogging bottoms and a black walking jacket.

Ian also has a number of tattoos including a Samurai warrior on his chest, a koi carp fish on his right arm and St George and knights on his back.

Ian, or anyone who knows his whereabouts, is asked to contact Northumbria Police quoting reference 909 10/09/19.
