Police commandeer golf buggy to chase drink-driver

It might sound like a scene out of a comedy movie - but police got their suspect when they borrowed a golf buggy to continue a pursuit.

The officers jumped into the small vehicle when a motorist failed to stop after a collision then abandoned their motor.

They got behind the wheel of the buggy from Shipton Golf Course, near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, as they carried out the pursuit.

The driver was found and arrested.

On February 19, Cotswold Police posted to Twitter: "A drink-driver failed to stop after an RTC and made off after abandoning their vehicle.

"Thankfully the driver was located and arrested before they got too far.

"Thank you to @Shiptongolf who helped us locate the driver by lending us a golf cart. #roomwithaview #pat2847 #holeinone"
