Police closed three Co Antrim roads to examine three 'suspicious objects'

The police closed a number of roads in Co Antrim after three "suspicious objects" were found.

The PSNI closed the Bann Road between Agivey and Bendooragh this morning as part of a security alert in the Ballymoney area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The B66 Bann Road, between Agivey and Bendooragh, in the Ballymoney area, has been closed in both directions following the discovery of a suspicious object. Diversions are in place whilst the object is examined.

A short time later they also closed the Glenstall Road near Bendooragh and the Balnamore Road following the discovery of a second suspicious object.

Following this dicovery another suspicious object was found.

After examinations, Two of the objects were found to be fireworks and the third object was nothing untoward.

The roads have now reopened.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The security alerts at Bann Road and Glenstall Road at Bendooragh near Ballymoney have ended

"A number of roads in the area were closed as police and ATO examined three suspicious objects which were discovered in the area on Sunday. Two of the objects were found to be fireworks and the third object was nothing untoward. All roads have now re-opened and officers would like to thank residents and road users in the area for their patience whilst they worked to ensure their safety.
