Police close Springfield Road following serious collision in West Belfast

Police closed a section of Springfield Road in West Belfast following a serious collision involving two vehicles.

The PSNI had closed the road in both directions between the Lanark Way and Falls Road junctions following the incident.

The road has now reopened.

Drivers were told to expect delays in the area and find alternative routes of travel.

No further details regarding the incident have been released.

It is not yet known if anyone was injured in the collision, however police have  described it as serious.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are currently attending a serious Road Traffic Collision on Springfield Road.

"As a result, we have had to close the road between the junctions with Lanark Way and Falls Road.

"The road may be closed for sometime. Expect delays, seek an alternative route if possible."
