Police close road in Salford after a crash involving multiple cars

Police closed a road in Salford after a crash involving multiple cars.

Manchester Road in Walkden, was completely shut between Sharp Street and Old Clough Lane, at around 6pm this evening (October 26).

Traffic monitoring website Inrix states that two vehicles were involved but a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesman described the crash as a "fail to stop RTC involving four cars."

The GMP spokesman also confirmed that there were "no significant injuries".

Manchester Road was partially reopened at 6.45pm.

The crash also caused some disruption on public transport.

Just after 6pm, Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan tweeted: "Route 38. Diversion in both directions via Old Clough Lane, East Lanc's Road and Walkden Road.

"This is due to a Police incident on Manchester Road.

"Sorry if this affects your journey with us today."
