A woman has been taken to hospital following a "serious crash" in Newry this morning.
Cordons are in place on the Armagh Road between Plunkett Street and Drumliss Court.
Police are advising motorists to seek an alternative route.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised to avoid Mountain View Drive in Newry which is closed following a two vehicle road traffic collision this morning.
"Cordons are in place at the junctions with Armagh Road, Plunkett Street and Drumliss Court.
"Please seek alternative routes."
They later added: "A 51-year-old woman has been taken to hospital following a collision on Mountainview Drive in Newry.
"It’s understood she was the driver of a vehicle involved in a two car crash that occurred at around 4.45am this morning.
"The extent of her injuries is not yet known but they are believed to be potentially serious.
"The driver of the other vehicle, a 51-year=old man has been arrested.
"The road remains closed."
A spokesperson for Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they took a second patient to Daisy Hill.
They added: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 04.32 on Wednesday 18 March 2020 following reports of an RTC at Lisdrumgullion, Newry.
"NIAS dispatched two Emergency crews to the scene.
"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast while another patient was taken to Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry."
