Police close part of East Lancs Road after car overturns in crash

Police closed part of the East Lancs Road this afternoon after a car flipped following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the smash shortly before 2.40pm this afternoon (Sunday, November 11).

Two cars were involved in the incident, near to the Lowton turn off.

No serious injuries were reported, say GMP.

However, both vehicles sustained 'serious damage'.

Following the crash, the East Lancs Road was closed westbound between Newton Road and Church Lane.

It has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called to the East Lancs Road shortly before 2.40pm.

"There were two cars involved. One managed to overturn.

"There were no serious injuries, but there was serious damage to the vehicles."
