Police close off two streets in Edinburgh after rushing to 'ongoing incident' in city centre

Cops have closed off two major Edinburgh streets amid an ongoing incident.

Police and fire engines have been seen on the capital's North Bridge and Market Street, with both currently closed off.

Concern for a person staying at a nearby hotel sparked the response.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police were called around 6.20pm following the report of a concern for person at a hotel on North Bridge, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance and both North Bridge and Market Street are currently closed."

A fire service spokeswoman said it was a police incident.
