Police close off town centre street after man stabbed in early hours

Police closed off a town centre road in Tyldesley after a man was stabbed in the early hours of the morning.

The victim, believed to be a 27-year-old man, took himself to hospital at around 4.35am at which point officers were called.

He was suffering from serious injuries but police say his condition is now stable.

Officers believe the stabbing occurred in Elliott Street, in the centre of Tyldesley, and the road was cordoned off for much of the day.

A spokesman for GMP confirmed that no arrests have been made and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 616 of 07/03/20.

Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
