Police close off major roads after Lime Street collision

A woman was injured after a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian, shutting off a large part of the city centre.

Concerned readers contacted the ECHO to say there was a police presence near Lime Street Station and the road at the junction of Great Charlotte Street as well as St Jons Lane had been closed.

A number of police patrol cars and vans were used to cordon off a section of road close to St George's Hall.

Onlookers said a woman had been struck by a vehicle, leaving her seriously hurt.

Shortly before 11pm on Friday, Merseyside Police tweeted: "Motorists please be aware that due to an RTC road closures are in place at the junction of Great Charlotte Street / Lime Street and on St Johns Lane in Liverpool city centre.
