Police close main road in Stockport as emergency services respond to four-way car crash

Emergency services have been called to the scene of a four-way car crash in Stockport.

Police and paramedics were called at around 5.23pm this evening (October 28) to reports of a collision between four vehicles on Wilmslow Road in Heald Green.

Initial enquiries suggest nobody was seriously injured in the crash, but emergency services remain at the scene.

Pictures from the scene show a grey Citroen Picasso car which has been badly damaged at the front.

A black Mini Cooper has also received extensive damage to the rear of the vehicle.

Car parts can be seen sprawled across the road and pavement.

It is not yet clear if any of the passengers require hospital treatment, or if any arrests have been made.

The section of Wilmslow Road at the junction of Bolshaw Road has been closed in both directions, as police carry out their enquiries.

Stagecoach tweeted: "Route 42C. Diversion in both directions via Stanley Road, Gill Bent Road, Church Road, Ravenoak Road, Station Road, Albert Road, Cheadle Road and Wilmslow Road.

"This is due to a Police incident on Wilmslow Road."

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At 17.23pm emergency services responded to reports of a four vehicle traffic collision on Wilmslow Road in Heald Green.

"Emergency services are still at the scene.

"There appears to be no serious or life-threatening injuries."
