Police close Hengrove road after man found with head injuries

Several police cars and ambulances have descended on Hengrove this evening after a man was seriously injuried.

Emergency crews set up a cordon around Creswicke Road while they investigated the serious incident.

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the victim suffered a suspected fracture to his skull.

She said: "Police were called to Creswicke Road at about 9.30pm on Monday 7 October after a man was found injured.

"The man, who is in his 40s, went to hospital by ambulance with a suspected fracture to his skull.

"The investigation is in its very early stages. The road is closed for an examination of the scene and officers have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

"If you have information about how the man came by his injuries, or any dashcam or CCTV footage which could help the investigation get in touch with police through  www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact  or by call 101 quoting reference 5219232414.

"Alternatively ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call."

A witness, who preferred not to be named,  said: "There are a lot of police cars and a closed street in Creswicke Road."
