Police close Dorchester Avenue after tree falls on west end street

Police have closed off a street in the west end of Glasgow after a tree fell on the road.

An image shows police have taped off a section of Dorchester Avenue in Kelvindale, with the fallen tree blocking significant area of the street, beside a row of parked cars.

Police have advised the tree fell on one of the cars and also on some electrical wiring as officers were called to the scene earlier this morning.

Resident Ronnie McGowan shared a photo on Twitter, commenting: "Dorchester Avenue closed from Cleveden Road tree down."

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: "Around 7.25 this morning, officers received a report a tree having fallen onto a car and some electrical wiring on Dorchester Avenue. Glasgow. We are in attendance and the road is currently closed."
