Police close car park at Sale Water Park to stop a 'large event' - rumoured to be a dog meet-up

Police closed off the car park at Sale Water Park due to someone planning a 'large event'.

Officers restricted access to the car park at the popular park on Saturday afternoon (August 1).

They said it was closed temporarily after someone had planned a large event.

Police have not confirmed any details about the event, though there were reports on social media of a dog meet-up in Sale Water Park.

Police asked people to avoid the area while it was closed.

In a tweet, an officer at GMP Sale said: "Police have temporarily closed the car park at Sale Water Park due to someone planning a large event.

"Please avoid the area."

The car park was closed for around 45 minutes and has since been reopened.
