Police close busy Chorlton road following serious collision

Police closed a busy south Manchester road late into Wednesday evening following a serious collision.

The wreckage of a car could be seen behind a large police cordon which was placed across Wilbraham Road in Chorlton.

Several police vehicles were at the scene on Wednesday evening.

Unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses claimed that two vehicles and a bus had been involved in the incident, but the MEN has been unable to confirm these details.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they had not been in attendance at the scene.

Wilbraham Road remained closed between Arundale Avenue and Withington Road, close to the Gita Bhavan Hindu Temple.

Police have not yet released any details about the incident.

The M.E.N has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment.
