Police close bridge as 'pools of blood' found following Nottingham shooting

Police are closing a bridge after "lots of pools of blood" was seen following a shooting in Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire Police were called just before midnight on Tuesday, June 16 to reports that the men had each sustained a single gunshot wound during the incident in the Hucknall Road area.

The victims – a man in his twenties and another in his thirties – were taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre by ambulance for treatment for their injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

No-one has been arrested as part of detectives’ enquiries to date.

The force is closing Moor Bridge at the junction with Hucknall Hucknall Lane in Bulwell while they investigate and follow the blood trail.

Speaking from the scene, Detective Inspector Ruby Burrow, investigating, told Nottinghamshire Live: "All we have at the moment is that we have two people injured and we take firearms seriously.

"As you can see there is a lot of blood on the pavement so we are following the blood trail.

"We are closing Moor Bridge for about 20 minutes.

"Hopefully we will get the road reopened but it is a bit messy.

"There are lots of pools of blood. We believe they were in a vehicle.

"Anyone in the area who saw or overheard anything [please get in touch]."

Police cordons remain in place at a number of locations nearby following the incident, including on the footpath of Moor Bridge at its junction with Hucknall Lane in Bulwell .

Anyone with any information about the incident or those involved is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 912 of Tuesday 16 June.

Alternatively, information can be passed to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
