An unqualified driver raced around Hartcliffe at up to THREE times the speed limit.
Jamie Parsons panicked when he saw police and sped off in a Peugeot 206.
Bristol Crown Court heard after covering just over a mile in seven minutes he crashed near a bus stop.
Parsons, 23 of Bishport Avenue, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without insurance or a proper licence in January.
Judge Julian Lambert jailed him for six months.

He told Parsons: "This resulted in you being in a collision, crashing into railings close to a bus stop.
"It is sheer luck you didn't kill or injure someone."
Parsons was banned from driving for 15 months from his expected release and told to take an extended driving test.
Alistair Haggerty, prosecuting, said it was 10pm when police on Bishport Avenue followed Parsons.
He then speeded up and hit speeds of bewteen 40mph to 80mph through the built-up zone.
Mr Haggerty described how Parsons braked heavily and caused two cars to take evasive action as he overtook vehicles.
He said: "Eventually he lost control and the car mounted the pavement and span.
"It crashed through some black railings near Chestnut House, near to a bus stop.
"The incident lasted seven to eight minutes, maybe quicker.
"Mr Parsons was arrested.
"He was alone and had a provisional licence and no insurance."

Parsons told police he drove off because he panicked, saying: "I did do it and I'm sorry."
Gregory Gordon, defending, said: "He panicked.
"He should not have been behind the wheel.

Mr Gordon urged for a suspended or deferred sentence.
