Portland State University's library was cleared by police on Thursday after being occupied by pro-Palestinian protesters since Monday. The Portland Police Bureau confirmed the completion of the operation, revealing the discovery of various items such as tools, improvised weapons, ball bearings, paint balloons, spray bottles of ink, and DIY armor. Fortunately, none of these items were used against the police.
Following the police intervention, videos captured protesters attempting to block a police van from crossing a bridge while chanting, 'Let them go.' Despite the resistance, law enforcement managed to push through the blockade.
Another video depicted demonstrators providing water and rinsing the eyes of a distressed protester, showcasing moments of compassion amidst the tense situation.
The Portland Police Bureau addressed allegations of tear gas use, clarifying that officers were equipped with standard issue 40mm less-lethal launchers instead. This statement was shared on social media to provide transparency regarding the tools used during the operation.
