Two children who were inside a vehicle that was stolen in River North Saturday are safe, police said.

A 29-year-old woman left her children inside her parked Nissan Maxima about 3:50 p.m. in the 100 block of West Ontario Street while she stopped inside a food establishment, Chicago police said.

The woman returned to find the vehicle, along with her 7-year-old and three-week-old children, missing, police said.

Officers found the vehicle abandoned a few blocks away in the 600 block of North Franklin Street, police said. Both children were unharmed and didn’t need medical attention.

No arrests have been made as Area Central detectives investigate.
