Police chased Corsa through Kirkby after it failed to stop for them

Two men were arrested after a police chase which allegedly ended with an emergency worker being assaulted.

The pursuit happened on Valley Road in Kirkby on Easter Monday after police said a Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop for officers at 10pm.

One 32 year-old man from Widnes, believed to be the driver, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

It's not known if the emergency worker was injured during the alleged assault.

Another man, aged 30, also from Widnes was arrested on suspicion of obstructing or resisting a constable in execution of duty and use of threatening behaviour.
