Police have arrested two men after they were allegedly caught fleeing from a Tomago galvanising plant.
Port Stephens Hunter police received information just after midnight Saturday that there had been a break-in at the Hunter Galvanising plant on Punt Road.
When police arrived, they claim to have spotted two men running from the plant.
The officers and a police dog chased the men through thick scrub land, water courses, and over fences before they were able to apprehend two males.
Police will allege that the men entered the plant by cutting a hole in the perimeter fence, then broke into a number of buildings.
The buildings were ransacked, electronic devices and power tools were stolen and a vending machine was also destroyed, police said.
Two men, aged 44 and 42, were charged with aggravated break/enter and steal and were refused bail.
