
A MAN suspended from driving until 2024 who allegedly refused to stop for police on Monday while driving on the New England Highway in the Hunter Valley faces multiple charges.
Traffic and Highway patrol officers were alerted to an unregistered Ford Fiesta travelling north about 8.50am. After failing to stop the 29-year-old driver, police pursued him to Muswellbrook where he was arrested as he got out of the car.
His passenger, an 18-year-old woman, allegedly assaulted a second officer who was trying to arrest her.
Both were taken to Muswellbrook police station where the man was charged with police pursuit, not have interlock fitted, unregistered./uninsured vehicle, special range PCA, drive while disqualified and contravene AVO. He was refused bail ahead of appearing in court.
The woman was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, assault police, resist arrest, fail to disclose particulars and offensive language, and was granted conditional bail to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on December 20.
